The Michigan Animal Rescue League believes that every animal deserves the highest quality of life. Each and every animal that comes through our door is given unconditional love and regard in the form of physical care, socialization and the day to day joys that an animal would receive in a home.

We do not euthanize our animals except when injury, disease or temperament make other options impossible. They have been around since 1953.

K9 Stray Rescue League

K-9 Stray Rescue League is a state and federally licensed non-profit group formed in 1990 primarily to save dogs on the euthanasia list at local animal shelters. Most of the dogs at county and local shelters are there through no fault of their own. All they need is a loving, understanding, and responsible new home. We strongly encourage you to give these dogs a "New Leash on Life" by adopting from a local or county shelter, a humane society, or an organization like ours.

Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan

27796 John R
Madison Heights, MI 48071

248-548-1150

A no-kill shelter whose mission is to find homes for as many adoptable animals as humanly possible. To educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering to help control the pet population. To put an end to the needless and senseless killing by shelters of healthy adoptable puppies, dogs, kittens and cats.

The Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan ("AWS") was formed in 1982 by a group of concerned veterinarians and individuals who were alarmed at the rate of euthanasia performed on healthy and social cats, dogs, kittens and puppies. The goal of the organization is to secure homes for as many rescued animals as possible.  In the past 30 years, AWS has found homes for over 20,000 "unwanted" felines and canines. These puppies, kittens, dogs and cats are rescued from various pounds throughout Michigan and Ohio, some are strays, and some are owner surrenders.

Barn Sanctuary is a hands-on animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for farm animal refugees. This includes any animals that have been abused, abandoned, sentenced to death or are victims of natural disasters. We educate the public about the horrific treatment of animals raised and slaughtered by modern day farm factories, and the positive impact that a plant-based diet can have on the environment and our health.
